Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until now. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving from one job to the next during Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk occasionally and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
